John Day River whitewater rafting.

No one has more experience in the John Day River corridor then we do with over 20 years of introducing this wilderness trip to many groups and family's.

Looking for an outdoor family adventure that will build memories to share for the rest of your life? Or a group activity or corporate retreat that offers beautiful high desert scenery, rafting, smallmouth bass fishing, kayaking, hiking, camping combined with excellent gourmet food? We have the perfect trip for you. Come join us and drift the wilderness area of the John Day River corridor. It offers Class 1 and 2 whitewater excitement, perfect for scenic rafting and kayaking. You can wet a line in search of the many smallmouth bass in the river. We can teach you to kayak in our safe, easy to master, sit-on-top "Yahoo" kayaks.

Fishing for smallmouth bass on the John Day River has been described as a 'no brainer' by Jerry McKinnis from ESPN's The Fishin Hole. He and his grandson Blair fished with us in 1997 and found that the John Day River offers youngsters a perfect opportunity to catch plenty of willing smallmouth bass. We have introduced children to this great fishery at the age of four years old and taught them the excitement of catching these very scrappy gamefish. Some of them have enjoyed it so much that we can barely get them to come to breakfast or dinner. We also offer instruction in the great sport of flyfishing with our instructors Matt Shore and Asa Winant. They not only teach you the most fluid, efficent way of handling the rod and line but actually teach you how to catch a fish. All equipment is furnished.

The scenery is breathtaking and if you don't desire a full day of fishing or don't want to fish at all you are invited to kayak down the John Day River. It is very tranquil and our very stable 'YAHOO' kayaks are easily mastered with the help of our friendly staff. We arrive in camp early enough to take a nap or hike with one of our guides.

Matt Shore is also our resident geologist and is more then happy to explain to you what created the abundant geological formations. He has a degree in geology and 6 years of studying in this area. A large part of this 'Wild and Scenic' designated river is in the John Day Fossil Beds. We offer hikes led by Matt or Bob Evans. Bob can help you reach the top of Cathedral Rock for a panoramic view of the river corridor or take a more leisure stroll to some of the beautiful rock formations in the area. One looks just like a castle in stone.
